Compared to photography as a visual medium that allows the artist to step back from his own perception of reality , drawing to me is to gain elusive transcendence in the process of form-making. I see myself as a decedent from the surrealist tradition, like Salvador Dali and Rene Magritte and more recent influence like Roger Ballen. My work are often about approximating a point between surrealism and art brut, and through such approximation I try to explore the pure unconscious, psychic experience. My approach to drawing is much like recount a dream after waking up in the morning; logic of the conscious forces meaning to emerge out of bringing together incongruous objects, things that don’t belong together but as a holistic view somehow still makes sense. I make most of my drawings/illustrations on iPad Pro.
